Michael Riggs

Rev. Michael N. Riggs is an Ordained Minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and serves as the Senior Minister of New Hope Fellowship (D.O.C.) in Fort Worth, Texas. He is a recent graduate of Brite where he completed a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Black Church Studies, served as Sacristan for Brite Chapel, and twice received the Granville Walker Foundation scholarship for preaching.
Prior to coming to Brite, Rev. Riggs earned both a Bachelor and Master of Music from TCU in music theory and composition with additional studies in conducting and performance. He received Departmental Honors from the TCU School of Music and was named the Presser Scholar and TCU Senior Scholar in Music. A pianist, bassist, and vocalist, he enjoys giving of his gift for music, be it in the church, concert hall, or jazz club. However, his interests in music and the fine arts led him to pursue his calling to ministry, directing church ensembles and mass choirs and bringing people into the presence of the divine through sacred sound.
Combining his artistic experience with his passion for liturgics, Rev. Riggs brings to Brite Chapel a deep love for worship and a celebration of the Word through song, sermon, and sacrament.
