Brite Student Maziel Barreto Dani has been selected to participate in the 2014 FTE Summit for Future Theological Educators. Dani, a native of Puerto Rico, is an ordained minister through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and is a PhD candidate in Biblical Interpretation with a minor in Homiletics and Hermeneutics. She is interested in reading the Gospel texts through imperial critical and ecological perspectives. Her future goals include teaching in a seminary or liberal arts college as well as providing preaching workshops for clergy.

The 2014 FTE Summit for Future Theological Educators bring together distinguished faculty and rising scholars in theological education today.  The two day gathering fosters mentoring relationships between students and faculty, provides professional development opportunities and builds networks among graduate students from underrepresented racial and ethnic communities.
