Captain Lyman M Smith, CHC, USN, Retired, is a ministerial member of the Presbyterian Church (USA). He recently retired as the Executive Director and Endorsing official of Presbyterian Federal Chaplaincies and previously served as the Executive Director of the Military Chaplains Association. While serving with the MCA Chaplain Smith helped develop the Veteran Military Friendly Congregation ministry which continues to support congregations today.

Rev. Louis Tillman holds an MDiv with a dual emphasis in African Descent Ministries and Urban Studies from the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. He now serves as the Associate Pastor of Holman UMC in Los Angeles, CA. The congregation’s ministries include support for veterans and their families and a particular ministry for women veterans. The Holman Community Development Corporation and the congregation support a ministry initiative for women veterans, “Beyond the Battlefield.” This is a ministry of accompaniment with the women veterans in their journey to heal from the emotional and relational wounds of war. This ministry seeks to encourage the women veterans and facilitate right relationships for military families.
