Fall 2010 schedule; Revised Summer 2010 schedue

March 14, 2010

Please note that the faculty recently approved several changes to the way we number courses in the catalog. These changes apply to both current and future courses and are meant to assist masters-level students in identifying required courses as well as courses that have one or more prerequisites. The changes will go into effect for courses offered in fall 2010. To assist you in identifying the changes, both the old and new catalog numbers are included on the fall schedule.

What has changed?

Only a course that has a number that begins with a six (e.g. 60003 or 65013) will satisfy a basic theological studies requirement for MDiv students. No course with a 70000 number will satisfy a basic theological studies requirement for MDiv students.

A course that has a number with a second digit that is a five (e.g. 65013 or 75013) has a masters-level prerequisite. If a catalog number has a second digit that is anything other than a five, it does not have a masters-level prerequisite.  (e.g. PTPC 70323 Clinical Pastoral Education will change to PTPC 75053 because Clinical Pastoral Education has a prerequisite of PTPC 60003.)

What has not changed?

Course numbers that begin with a six or seven (e.g. 60003 or 70013) indicate that the course is open to masters students.

Course numbers that begin with an eight (e.g. 80013) indicate the course is open to DMin students. Only DMin students can register at this level.

Course numbers that begin with a nine (e.g. 90013) indicate the course is open to PhD and ThM students. Only PhD and ThM students can register at this level.

We appreciate your patience as we transition to this new numbering system. We believe that once everyone had adjusted to the changes the new numbering system will reduce confusion. Please do not hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions.

Summer 2010 Schedule

Since the majority of the summer schedule was built before course number changes, there are only two courses on the summer schedule that were impacted. They have notes on the schedule designating the changes.
This 3/12/10 summer schedule version has the following updates to the 2/9/10 version:
Corrected class end time on NETE 70123/80123-010 and NETE 70143/90143-010
Addition of instructor names for several courses
Class days information/clarification for CHSO 70970/80970/90970-010
Addition of PTPC 60003-010 The Ministry of Pastoral Care
Addition of PTPC 75053-079 Clinical Pastoral Education

Have a wonderful spring break!
