Lent Series: 40 days to End Violence Against Women: Week 6 Domestic Violence

As we enter the final week of this study – Cries of Anguish, Stories of Hope: A Lenten Study on the worldwide struggle to end Violence Against Women – begins to look at a problem that affects every country: Domestic Violence.

You can use the online resources as they suit you best – on your own, or with a group from your church or area. We suggest you watch the videos first. This week we have chosen award winning and controversial short films that are meant to raise awareness about domestic violence. We have four short films in all, the longest being less than 2 minutes, from all over the world, including New Zealand, the UK and India. Domestic violence is a problem that affects women from every country, social status and background. By using videos from all around the world, we hope that this final study will bring home the message that violence against women is never acceptable and is an issue that we have to address globally.

We also have a Bible Study from Dr Lucy D’Aeth, which looks at the complex intersection of morality and the public/private sphere through the Gospel of John 8. Don’t forget the discussion questions, the interactive reflection page and the prayers that relate to the video.

We have provided some links to local support services, in case you or someone in your group finds this study raises issues for them which require professional support.
