Soul Repair Center Receives $650,000 Grant from Lilly Endowment, Inc.

July 29, 2014

Brite Divinity School is pleased to announce receipt of a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. for $650,000 to help fund the staff of the Soul Repair Center through May of 2017.  The Center was established in 2012 with an initial grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. for public education and research about moral injury in veterans of war. In its first two years, the Center has offered educational opportunities and developed resources to support faith communities and others working with veterans. This new grant will help to continue this important work.

The Soul Repair Center supports recovery from moral injury, which is a consequence of having violated one’s core moral values or of experiencing profound moral ambiguities under extreme, life-threatening conditions such as war.
