|Developing lasting, healthy relationships requires the support of community, including the church.
Pastoral leaders have a special opportunity to work with couples as they consider and plan commitment ceremonies and weddings. This forum will explore pastoral and programmatic ways to strengthen gay/lesbian, long term marriages and other kinds of covenantal relationships.
Joy Allen, LCSW, M.Div. is a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist in private practice in Ft. Worth, Texas. She specializes with couples (traditional and gay/lesbian) who want faith included in their counseling. She regularly teaches and leads relational workshops and is passionate about helping couples. www.JoyAllen.com
Jeffrey W. White, Ph.D (cand.) is a licensed marriage and family therapist and supervisor in Texas and New York. He currently serves as Assistant Pastor of Counseling at Park Cities Presbyterian Church in Dallas. He is also a candidate to become an AAMFT approved supervisor, and is also a Ph.D candidate in Couple and Family Therapy at Drexel University. His research at Drexel is in collaboration with the The Gottman Institute in Seattle, and focuses on low-income couples who have experienced situational domestic violence. He is a Certified Gottman Couples Therapist , Certified Gottman Educator, and a Couples Workhop Leader with the Gottman Institute in Seattle, WA. Jeff maintains a private practice in Dallas, and has worked with couples for 13 years. He is married to Susan and they have three daughters.
